Letter from the Attorney General October 6
Dear Colleagues,
This week, I was proud to name Sapna Khatri as Director of the office’s new Reproductive Justice Unit. At a time when reproductive rights are under attack across the country, Massachusetts remains a beacon of hope for the advancement of protective care. The Reproductive Justice Unit will focus on expanding and protecting access to reproductive and gender affirming care, addressing disparities in maternal health, tackling misinformation and disinformation that prevents access to care, working across state lines to respond to national attacks on reproductive health care, and championing and defending Massachusetts’ strong legal protections for reproductive rights.
Sapna arrives to this position with extensive passion, dedication, and experience in the areas of reproductive justice and privacy. I am confident that, under her leadership, Massachusetts will be a north star in showing just what is possible when people are free to make decisions for themselves about their bodies, lives, families, and futures with dignity and respect. Welcome to the team, Sapna! T
hank you to Sapna, Amanda Hainsworth, Molly McGlynn, Sabrina Zafar and Kaitlyn Solares for your work in announcing this exciting new effort in collaboration with advocates, medical professionals and providers across the state.
And as a reminder, in observance of Indigenous People’s Day, the office will be closed on Monday October 9. Please find time to rest and enjoy the long weekend!
With tremendous gratitude,
Andrea
